Bottoms Up Brewery

Nokomis, Florida, U.S.A.

6/17/2011 Sorry about the blast from the past here, just putting in a placeholder while I clean up some haxor mess on my Joomla based web pages. (and get moved to a new server 8/3/11)

Here's what (was) on tap as of May 28, 2007.

  • Now serving
    • Little Nasty Supposed to have been kinda like Anchor's Steam beer. Sadly, it looks like the hops used in this batch were well past peak so the beer is pretty bad. I'll let it age out some more and see what happens. it's drinkable, but you probably don't want a growler of this one.
    • Classic American Pilsner made with Briess Anniversary Malt and some cracked feed corn.
    • Vienna Lager made with about an equal blend of the Briess Anniversary malt, Munich, and Vienna.
    • Ginger Ale -- non alcoholic soda pop made with fresh ginger root.
    • Root Beer -- Rich and creamy, maybe too much so. Overdid it on the maltodextrin by about 2.5X, so this might be an entertaining flatulence producer!
  • Fermenting/Clearing
    • Ordinary Bitter, a lightweight English beer good having several pints as well as for growing up a bunch of yeast for subsequent batches.
  • Next in line
    • Probably a Munich Helles. Then I'll switch back to some more hoppy styles.
  • Long term aging
    • Barleywine (from January 2005 group brew, now in bottles). At last check it was not carbonating very well.
    • Solera Ale This started out as an Old Ale originally from our January 2005 group brew. After drinking or bottling a gallon or so, we added back a gallon of stout to deepen its character. In mid 2006 we blended back and forth some fresh Old Ale that was made for NHC. In late 2006 we added some Doppelbock. In early 2007, this combination won a gold medal at the Best Florida Beer competition! We will keep adding and removing from this keg indefinitely and see what we have over time.
